5 Step Skin Care Regime For Oily Skin

Oily skin is categorized by a shiny and greasy layer. Oily skin often has big pores from where the oil seeps out. Our skin has a layer of sebaceous glands. These glands produce sebum which is an oily liquid that helps keep the skin moisturized. However, when the sebaceous gland overproduce sebum, it starts accumulating instead of just hydrating the skin and makes it oily and sticky. Step One: Cleaning The Skin

Cleaning the skin doesn’t mean washing it with any soap or any cleaning product you find. You need to find the something that works for your skin. Oily skin already has excessive oils so it requires an oil free soap or body wash that effectively removes excess oils, without drying out the skin. Using warm water helps in getting rid of excess oil . Avoid using hot water as it also washes away the oil required for maintaining basic moisture of skin. Don’t over bathe. Bathing for long or washing your face more than twice a day can devoid the skin of essential oils, making it dry. Be Gentle on your skin. Always pat yourself dry instead of wiping with towel,specially for delicate areas like face.

Step 2: Moisturize The Skin

Probably the biggest mistake people with oily skin make is that they don’t think there is a need to moisturize their skin. Dry or oily, every skin type needs moisture. Use a mild moisturizer everyday, all around the year, will prevent your skin from drying out. The key to moisturizing is to apply the moisturizer when the skin is still damp from bathing. This will seal the moisture in the skin preventing it from drying for a long time.

Step 3: Protect The Skin

Protect your skin from the sun damage by applying sunscreen. Your moisturizer might contain sun protection but on a safe side you are mild sunscreen. An ideal sunscreen should protect from both UVA and UVB and should and should contain a SPF of minimum 30. Use a sunscreen daily, even if the sun isn’t visible because it might not be visible but its always there radiating harmful rays towards the earth.

Step 4 Exfoliate The Skin

The most common reason for breakout on oily skin is pore closing by dead cell buildup. Dull and flaky appearance on the skin is a sign of dead cell build up. This makes exfoliating a very necessary step. Use a exfoliator from market or a home remedy once a week to ensure the dead cells and other impurities like pollution remnants are weathered off from your skin. Rubbing the skin gently in upward circular motion using a suitable exfoliator is the correct and most effective way.

Step 5 Cleansing The Skin

Cleansing is not cleaning. It means to wash away any harmful toxins or impurities that might lead to skin problems like blemishes and pimples. Always remove your makeup before sleeping. Use a a mild astringent lotion or cleansing milk for it. The layers of base makeup sitting on your face for long can block the skin pores giving an open invitation to skin problems,hence it is necessary to let your skin breathe while you are asleep.
